A photographer must offer a personal creation, different from his commissioned images. A relationship with one’s immediate environment. My work will present you with a particular alchemy created by the image: The portrait of a city.
This collection proposes to make available to the public a set of photographs, sound recordings and notes, both phenomenological and sociological. These recordings, testimonies of our lives, I bring them together to present this alchemy. Collected through my encounters, I enrich them with sound recordings and very short films.
These notes claim nothing more than to convey the views of the women and men I am lucky enough to meet. They are the daily diary of a photographer in love with creations, who, recorder and camera in hand, travels through the city. From this collection of images and portraits may be created a book, an exhibition, … in the Audacieuse-Galerie or outside the walls, in Carouge or in a photography festival, that goes without saying.
A modest and secret emotion
Quite naturally, it is towards the shopkeepers as well as the long-time inhabitants that my visits are oriented, because as actors and witnesses, they can reveal the authentic life of the place. Then, to complete my approach faithfully, I meet all classes, all genders, all origins, all sides, all styles. All of them bring their feelings and their perspective, when in a break in their hectic life, they give me a few moments. In these humble and discreet lives, which often claim to be banal, I observe and discover wisdom, intelligences and souls, offered to listen to me.
If during all these meetings, I can collect testimonies with rigor and seriousness, the intransmissible emotion can be guessed as modest and secret. Born between the photographer and the people we meet, the links we can create will remain confidential and in the imagination of the viewer.
