The photographs presented were captured over the last ten years by photographer Thierry Vezon, mainly in Norway, Iceland, the Svalbard archipelago and Greenland, more precisely in the village of Tiniteqilaaq. This small village, with about a hundred inhabitants, is distinguished by the total absence of vehicles, the sleigh being the only means of transport in winter. Traditionally, the fjord and the expanses surrounding the village are covered by a thick layer of ice in winter, but this reality is beginning to change. Questions arise about the future of the Inuit way of life. Will sled dog teams be doomed to disappear? Already, the number of fishermen in Norway’s Lofoten Islands is plummeting. What will happen in the coming years?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/section>\r\n\t\t\t\t

Svalbard is experiencing particularly rapid climate change: it is warming five times faster than the rest of the planet, snowfall is giving way to rain, sea ice is weakening, glaciers are rapidly shrinking, and biodiversity, including birds, arctic foxes and polar bears, is at risk. The photographs, imbued with serenity and often tinged with pastel tones, beautifully capture the wonderful winter ecosystems of the Far North as well as the way of life of its inhabitants. They offer a stark contrast to the threats to these regions. This exhibition raises the crucial question: are we losing the North, literally and figuratively, as the saying goes?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/section>\r\n\t\t\t\t

\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

Thierry Vezon, a freelance photographer living in the Gard, has devoted his life to photography since 2004. Although he enjoys travelling, especially in the Far North, his favorite places are in the south of France: Provence, the Camargue, the C\u00e9vennes. Specialized in wildlife and landscape photography, he devotes long hours to the lookout, while respecting nature. His specialty also includes aerial and reportage photography. Capturing ephemeral moments, sharing the emotions felt in the field and witnessing the beauty of nature are essential aspects of his photographic work. He collaborates with magazines in France (Terre Sauvage, Nat’images, G\u00e9o…) and abroad (BBC Wildlife magazine, La Salamandre, Naturfoto…). From 2008 to 2023, he has published about twenty books, the most recent of which are “Un voyage en hiver” and “C\u00e9vennes d’arbres et de pierres” (A Journey in Winter) and “C\u00e9vennes d’arbres et de pierres” published by Alcide. His photographs are regularly exhibited in festivals and galleries.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/section>\r\n\t\t\t\t
