The names of Charcot, Nansen and Paul-Emile Victor come to mind. The novels of Jack London, or Edouard Peisson. Stories of shipwrecks, disasters, lost sailors wandering blindly on the ice floe... Even more profoundly, the Great North tells of the fragility of our world. It is like, in reverse, a work by Christo: snow, ice, wind and rust gradually sculpt the hull and the bow and transform it into something else, an apparition all the more visible because, as a ghost, it is surrounded by a shroud.
