Photographs for a wider customer target.

The ghost mannequin photographs make the mannequin disappear completely and give the garment all the volume it needs. The photography is extended to all genders, all age groups, all styles. Only the clothes remain. The interest is to reach a larger audience when your target customer is large. (If you are targeting a very specific clientele, then you should prefer a human model with the right age range and style to match your clientele). Another advantage is that all positions and poses are strictly identical. Your customer doesn't have to think too long to compare two garments, the differences are immediately obvious.

How many garment photographs for an e-commerce?

Generally, for our e-commerce clients, we take three ghost photos per garment, front, three-quarter profile and back. To complement this, we add detail photographs, depending on the complexity of the garment.  (A pocket, a neckline, a particular zip, a belt buckle etc...) And already the Internet user can get a good idea of what he is going to buy. This is usually enough to get a good idea of the product.

How do we do it? We use a very special mannequin for photography. It is not a mannequin that can be used in a shop or window display. Our mannequin is dressed in your clothing. A first photograph is taken. Then the mannequin is partially dismantled: the neck is removed for example. The inner neckline of the garment appears. The arms that will be removed will reveal the end of the inside of the sleeves. A new photograph is taken. Then, all the photographs are superimposed in a retouching software. In retouching, we will keep only the extracts of fabric that we want, and so the mannequin disappears entirely in favour of the fabric. A laborious task, but with an exceptional result.

On average, it takes us 60 minutes per garment: Dressing and pinning the mannequin garment; taking ghost photographs, with two photographs per face, profile and back, as well as some detail photographs. Then come the retouching to balance the colourimetry of the images, superimpose the images and erase the mannequin with software. The images are then prepared in size for your e-commerce on a transparent, white or coloured background. If everything is good, the mannequin is undressed and we move on to the next garment.
