Exhibition Thierry Vezon : Camargue, entre ciel et terre

Exhibition of fine art photography : Thierry Vezon

"Camargue, entre ciel et terre"

The result of several years' personal aerial photography over the Camargue and particularly the salt marshes, the photos represent the alchemy between different elements: water, air and salt, which create incredible abstract paintings on the surface of this aquatic world, graphic marvels with astonishing colours. The strength of abstract art lies in its subjectivity and dreamlike quality, in which shapes, colours, light, textures, flow and movement all come together...

In the Camargue delta, the ponds and lagoons cover around twenty per cent of the surface area, and correspond mainly to the so-called "lower" ponds, i.e. those closest to the sea and the barrier beach separating them from it. The Etangs du Fournelet, de l'Impérial, du Lion, de Monro and dela Dame cover some 7,500 hectares, to which must be added, to name but a few, the Etangs de Beauduc and Faraman, du Vaisseau and du Fangassier, and the 6,400 hectares of the Vaccarès... These photographs offer a collection of rough and half-cut gems, a painter's palette, test tubes where acidic, psychedelic images and tones are juxtaposed in a way that science fiction might not have dreamed of.

Thierry Vezon

Thierry Vezon, a freelance photographer, has devoted his life to photography since 2004. Although his favourite locations are in the south of France - Provence, the Camargue and the Cévennes - he also enjoys travelling to the far north. Specialising in wildlife and landscape photography, he spends long hours on the prowl, respecting nature. His speciality also includes aerial and reportage photography. Capturing fleeting moments, sharing the emotions felt in the field and bearing witness to the beauty of nature are essential aspects of his photographic work. He works with magazines in France (Terre Sauvage, Nat'images, Géo, etc.) and abroad (BBC Wildlife magazine, La Salamandre, Naturfoto, etc.). Between 2008 and 2023, he published around twenty books, the most recent of which are "Un voyage en hiver" and "Cévennes d'arbres et de pierres", both published by Alcide. His photographs are regularly exhibited in festivals and galleries.
