Christ Light

The cross is a symbol of Christ's passion because of the sufferings he experienced and his crucifixion, but it is also synonymous with light and reconciliation with God. The gesture of Christ through his sufferings gives the people liberation from sin and evil, letting the light of truth appear. This powerful image reveals to us all the meaning of faith and the significance of the existence of religious communities, who gave their lives for the cross. This gives full meaning to their lives. A cross, always this same cross, presence in life, a cross that could give another meaning in non-religious life, this is still to be reflected upon in our society. The Abbey of Senanque thus gives us many signs of this order. It respects the life of the monks who live in prayer and work in this sense, the meaning of the prayer which builds their life.
