The debacle

Before the beasts, before the men, at the very beginning of time... The landscape, in the Great North, leads to metaphysics, awakens in us ancient, and probably unconscious, memories of cosmogony. Water, rock - not even earth, but rock, the mineral in its raw state - and sliding over both to give them life, the first morning of the world. For as long as I can remember, the Arctic, the Ocean, the cold, gaunt lands that border it, have always fascinated me. To me, these polar spaces embodied the purity of the origins. But this world is now in danger, the ice pack is retreating, global warming is forcing it to move too fast and suddenly depriving it of its virginity.
